    Update....all clutch plates and lifter are fine and plates are well within tolerance. Oil pump chain seems ridiculously slack, but measure pitch and it's exactly where it should be.     Oil change was last year. Really difficult to describe the grinding as it happens for such a short time, and I'm feeling it as much as hearing it.     Thank you, I haven't, but I shall. Beginning to wonder if it might be the clutch... Doesn't happen if I pull away slowly, always happens on hill starts. I'll take it out and check the plates this weekend. 37k miles on original clutch, so worth a look at least.
