  1. Accessory Power

Thanks.......I'll be lifting that tank then.......just as son as I can get it emptied a bit more... I presume they are blindingly obvious......ie sat there with nothing plugged into them?
  2. Accessory Power

Chaps Just bought a satnav with a Triumph power lead on it (off a Sprint ST). I understand that there are spare power source 'plugs' somewhere near the front of the bike to plug things like heated grips and foglamps into. To save me taking the front end apart when I only need to lift a...
  3. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

And fitted...... Amount the bike sagged after removing each shock took me a bit by surprise....and caused a bit of a struggle to replace each one. Cheers for the encouragement. Pete
  4. Getting old shocks off

Deed done...... Didn't realise how much the bike would sag when just one shock was removed..... Lucky my wife is handy with a rubber mallet to get the things back on whilst I lifted the bike.....ooer!! Wonder why the top mount of the standard Triumph unit has metal sleeve that fits direct...
  5. Getting old shocks off

TVM for the offer......but I've just bought Perds' Progressive 440s..... :)
  6. Getting old shocks off

Chaps Sorry to appear a bit of a wimp, but anyone have any tips on getting the rear shocks off without resorting to using a puller? Mine are stuck on tight, despite the bike only being 6 months old; I do not want to risk any paintwork by levering, and have already tried a couple of technical...
  7. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

Chaps For shocks that have only done 1000 miles on the bike, mine are 'stuck' on. After trying a gentle tap with a rubber mallet with no success, anyone got any tips on how to loosen them without risking paintwork damage? Thanks
  8. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

Phil Standard length is also 12.5 inch......no different from your 440HDs...
  9. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

Mike I will be fitting them myself........ TVM for all the advice gents; always nice to have the safety net around of those that have seen it, done it, and ripped the T-shirt..... Cheers
  10. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

All good points....must admit that I would rather use a bit of muscle to lift the rear end less than an inch to fit the shocks than trust the thing teetering on any jack........ However, I'm not keen on lining the pockets of the dealer either. Man or mouse.....haven't decided yet!!
  11. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

Thanks guys. Shocks are the same, standard size..... Pete
  12. LIFTING THE R3 - fitting new rear shocks

Hi Just about to fit new rear shocks. Can I get away without lifting the bike, by doing one side at a time (recognizing that the weight on forces the shocks to sag a little)? If not, without a table jack (I have a proper hydraulic jack only, but will use a very large piece of wood to spread...
  13. Just recieved my cat bypass

You may wish to consider disconnecting the battery before removing the old catbox and fitting the new pipework; it is very easy to 'brush' the live feed to the starter motor whilst working in that area..... Mind you.....I didn't......and got away with it. BTW.....sound is indeed...
  14. First Service

Mate You should shame your 'stealer'..... Not sure what the law is in Oz but, in the UK, as long as the vehicle is serviced with quality/approved service items (OEM quality) to the schedule as set by the manufacturer, by a suitably qualified company (not necessarily a 'manufacturer-linked'...
  15. Triumph Comfort Suspension

Good points all......and well made; I'll be giving the 'bargains' a miss!! Cheers Pete
