    The Polish rebuild

I have been away for some time :) and the project was at idle during the winter/spring. Then I was riding a lot other bikes but finally started again with the Rocket. It has been on its own legs for a month now. New lights, new tyres, new seat /10cm higher than the original/, de-chromed and many...

    The Polish rebuild

For the tires it absolutely is hard to blame anyone for going to dark side as the dedicated motorcycle rubber is just ridiculously priced. In Poland you can get proper winter tyres for two cars like opel Astra. Wtf! For the price of rocket set! I am tempted but I think this is illegal. Haven’t...

The old tank serves a purpose of painting exercises. The Rocket must look like one. This is my first try with airbrush ever so bear with me. Just wanted to see how complex of a task this is going to be.

yes. I said this is not ideal :/ has anybody succeeded taking off the splined collar off of the FD??? seems like it has been pressed onto the pinion - with enough persuasion it should be possible to take it off. then it could be remanufactured to size and pressed back/loctited. throwing out...

    The Polish rebuild

ahahahahaha :D seems like I was not looking where it needed to be. look what I found just this evening :D 1st one is NEW 2008+ touring shaft - but this might NOT fit into my FD according to the above posts 2nd one is slightly used but looks almost untouched where mine is shot and looks exactly...

    The Polish rebuild

I lucked out on the FD - not leaking and no odd play. Used bigger parts or bikes to be parted are unobtainium in my neck of the woods.

Sure - let’s see the difference between this and the older models splines. Actually I was pretty surprised to see the u joint in there. I thought this was something along the lines of motoguzzi with a round splined gland serving the pivotal/driving role. As per the tuneecu Stef: first hand info...

    The Polish rebuild

Took the swingarm out and extracted the shaft. Top is as new. The bottom is beyond bad. I really think it is unsuitable to be put back in :( have to sleep it over :( Didn’t see how bad it was when it was in the swingarm. It is proper shot.

thanks for the valuable info. many thanks. no - the initial couple of powerups will not do the trick in my case. usually it will burp the second try and then start. THEN it starts every time no problem. also, once I took the collector off I noticed the middle cylinder has MUCH less deposits as...

Yes. The original exhaust is 22kgs. I just hope I will not have to build my own driveshaft. It WAS a mistake to ride this bike at all not checking first but who would have thought. Dried up molybdenum? Don’t Think so but wish you were right. Personally i use Staburags in places like this. Good...

    The Polish rebuild

Well there is some progress if this can be called that… Tomorrow the swingarm goes out - rust inside omg. Never ever have i seen anything like that in any of the dozen or so Beemers I have Had. Bloody bike designed in a country where it never rains… Had some prewelded piecuts leftovers from...

@Kevin - this is the first time I see a drain/fill opening without any kind of washer so seal off the oil and youre not telling me it is better to seal the bolt's head directly on the casing, are you? there will be annealed copper washers installed in these bolts. If you prefer yours without...

    The Polish rebuild

Seems like there is nothing to it. Apart from the fact I need to take BOTH wheels and keep the bike suspended for a month or so :) The spline lube is something I am used to having owned a number or Beemers. I have a bike lift/stand - it should do the trick - has been holding a GL1200 during...
