    Believe it is common, mine does that, particularly if the revs aren't perfectly matched. Believe the gearboxes are just like that due to being rather substantially built to deal with the torque. Found that the oil used can make a marked difference to it, mine seems to prefer Mobil1 fully...

    Could be the rest were earthing through the tach or something odd like that. My Mini was being weird like that for a while, would run perfectly while standing, would cut out and restart when the evap valve operated.     Mine varies quite a bit depending on where and how I am riding, but I usually get somewhere in the region of 2-300 from a tank.

    Enough moisture in there can lead to internal corrosion in the steel parts of the system (mainly master cylinders and callipers)

    Find mine occasionally takes quite a while to work out how much fuel it has. Seems to vary as other times it has updated before I'm out of the petrol station.
