2023 Triumph R3 GT, 2022 Moto Guzzi V85TT,
I was looking through EBay and spotted an 08 Roadster. I had a late 05 listed as a 06. First thing was to pull the engine and replace the output shaft bearings. It also had a lot of electrical problems . To start with I had to install the beaver ignition relay system. Then the Voltage relay system was placed in such a way as not to allow much air to get to it and it blew, as did the aftermarket replacement. Should have gone w/ the Harley w/ the heavy duty Diodes . Plus a bunch that was introduced via the previous owners , ie add splices then remove w/o any insulation.
Now that I swung around the back 40 here is my questions.
This bike has 18000 miles on it . What are the weak points for that year ????
Over the time I was active on this forum I found that the members are honest . Sometimes to a fault, but that is also my style so I respect it.
Thanks in Advance

My understanding is the updates began in 09. With some of the early 09s (built in 08) not getting them. At 18k miles most of the known issues already rear their heads (ignition switch, second gear, cam tensioners--aka paint can rattle); but after all the problems you had with yours, I'd target 2010 or later. Unless of course you find one that's had the update kit installed!

I'd be wary of any seller trying to pass off an '08 off as a Roadster. He's either shonky or stupid. Either way, I wouldn't trust anything he says about the bike.

My old dealer sat on the new Rocket models for months without a sale. At one time i entertained the thought of getting a nice touring model. It sure looked good on the show room floor. He was willing to drop the price $3500.00. Something is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Throw a price at him and walk away if he says no, that's what i did with my new 05 and he called me back two months with a reasonable offer i could afford.

Sounds like a good idea , but will not work on this dealer. He is a nice guy but selling bikes like hot cakes. He has been open for 12 months. Has 3 brands now and a great team. They do not have to haggle.

I have decided not to go with this bike. looks good >>BUT<< gut says no. The seller has not sent the VIN. Says the bike was remapped by the dealer to match the open mufflers. Plus he is the 2nd owner. The first has died.
