DAY MAKER HEADLIGHTS.

my question is how much does the alternator put out on the rockets?if I put on say 100 to 150 watt driving lights would the alternator be maxed out or would it be able to keep up?could be a question for the electric guru I do not know how to figure amps versus watts or vica versus

I have the Harly daymakers in my Roadster, at first I was disappointed with distance but since doing a full night ride I can see the correct adjustment will make all the difference. Mine are a little to high and a little to wide but nice and bright.

There are very good lights out there that suck WAy less than 100 or 150 watts.
@DEcosse where are you ? ? ?
The BEST I have seen are the Clearwater Erica which take 60 watts each.

R3 Alternator is good for 37A @ only 2000 rpm!!! (41A @6000 rpm)

Std continuous draw is going to be in the ~ 18A region (not counting momentary loads like fan, signals, brake light, horn) so there is a TON of overhead - and even 150W is another 12A so well capable of adding that.

I'm with 'Bull though - you can get some good high output LED Aux lights these days - I would suggest that the Krista from Clearwater is going to be a useful addition (3000 Lumens, 30W each) - each one of those is approx equivalent to a single 5.75" JW Speaker 8630 on high beam! - or even Darla (2000 Lumens, 24W each) - equivalent to a JWS 8630 on low

And if you couple these with some Daymakers/JWS, you're saving a bunch of watts there already anyway.

Note that Clearwater now has an even BRIGHTER lamp Bull - the Sevina - a massive 7500 lumens, 70W per light.

Heads-up - see this post - FREE Single Headlight Conversion for your Speed Triple - Page 2 - Triumph Forum: Triumph Rat Motorcycle Forums

Although the JWS 8630 'kinda fits' by removing the positioning ring, it appears that a new TRUE fitment is going to be available from JWS with a 8690 series

But perhaps more significantly the 8690 also has new design & performance features
- has quite a bit more light output, particularly on high beam over the 8630

High beam output up from 2925/1000 (raw/effective) to 3520/1600

Those about to buy, might consider holding off until this new one is released/available

For the Touring guys, you not only get the new design in 7", it also features adaptive lighting for cornering!!

Brilliant! In more ways than the one.... now all we need to wait for is adaptive 5 3/4 lights!!

Can't see a price anywhere on the 7"adaptives... bet they're pretty silvery??

If you look at the lamp LED config, it looks extremely similar - but maybe there is just not enough room (yet?) for the gyros?

J.W. SPEAKER 7 - $800 !!!!!

Although they are listed (along with the 5-3/4 on that site) I do not believe they are actually available yet - Motodemic says they are anxiously awaiting them.

I shall check it out.
