how about this chase !!

My dad is a retired L.A. County Sheriff. He is now in his eighty's and is just blown away by the recent actions of police departments in general. He is shocked at some of the actions that modern day police get away with, He has mentioned many of times that if in his time a police officer reacted the way they do now someone would have got fired.

Ha! The cop was later promoted to captain and transferred in early 2015 to Oregon State Patrol's headquarters in Bend. Sounds about right.
- Rammed a motorcyclist who was stopping, all over a traffic violation
- Lied in court and claimed it was due to brake fade
- Kicked an admittedly complying suspect, breaking his clavicle and fracturing his rib
- Lied in court and claimed while he acknowledged the suspect was complying he "already had the muscles fired"
- Pulled his gun on a complying, non-threatening suspect, held it sideways like a wannabe gangster
- Both him and his department maintained his actions were in line with training and procedure
- Jury found him guilty
- State patrol deems him a model cop and promotes him. Just a few bad apples...
AND Im sure he was also out there picking on all the innocent blacks that are being profiled by those horrible police just because they are black BLACK LIVES MATTER

Wasn't going to comment, BUT this one bothered me.
The rider greased an unmarked prowler, clearly not knowing it was a cop. (I have done this myself)
Those cars carry VERY bright and VERY noticeable lights; however, if the cop never used his siren the biker gets the benefit of the doubt that he didn't know the cop was pursuing him. The video has been screwed with (sped up) so speeds can't be estimated.
From my 40+ years of experience, All pursuits MUST use lights AND siren. An extended pursuit for only an excessive speed, neg or reckless driving violation would NOT be allowed.
This cop WAY overreacted, gave an extended pursuit in violation of SOPs, got his adrenelin boiling and then assaulted the rider with his prowler, his gun and his foot all with NO probable cause or grounds!
This cowboy should have been disciplined AND lost his promotion.
I have a close personal friend on the OSP and shall indeed inquire, WTF?

That ranks as your dumbest post to date, Art. You've lived in and around Philthydelphia too long, my friend.

WTF did this video have to do with race and why are you trying to bait others into your own biased view of the world?:cautious:

His omniscience is obviously waning and not aging very well.
Anyone not biased to the extreme knows the percentage of worthless abusive dildos are most likely very much the same
IN ANY PROFESSION.

The problems we have with police are that their profession is more critical and more public than most others.
Over the past 30 years I have seen (from the inside) a serious lowering of the mental, psychological maturity and physical entrance standards for police officers. They have been truncated based upon maturity, aptitude, gender, race, size and even past drug use.
The end result is inferior and unqualified personnel, a full third of which have no business being cops.
JMHO

That was a joke on my part only posted that after listening to a Hillary Clinton rant that I considered worthless

I'm a reverse, diverse and inverse, equal opportunity hater.

Steve, I believe that your observation that about 1/3 of the LEO community is under-qualified or unfit to wear the uniform is pretty spot on. With great power (authority) comes great responsibility and that mantle has always been too heavy for many among the silent blue line. The profession has professionalized, e.g., my town adopted a policy about 10 years ago that all new hires must have 4 year undergraduate degrees in L.E. and/or related fields of study and they must maintain ongoing, continual training and study in order to advance. As a result, we have an intelligent, well-trained, professional and courteous community-oriented force that is a breath of fresh air when contrasted with our previous PD which was riddled with much more in the way of dead wood or brain dead members.

My apologies in advance for the long rant, but I spent years training coppers and this subject is still (after 23 years retired) a subject close to my heart.

Phil,
Education is ALWAYS a plus; BUT, it is not the prime criteria of a good copper.
Common sense is! It can not be taught in school and can be gained mostly by proper mentoring and experience.
The very late 60's is when the push for new police hiring with education beyond high school started. Half of my academy class possessed bachelor degrees.
All 15 failed probation! Those of us that had prior military and work experience fared much better. Very few of us (under 10%) were only 21 years old.

Today's recruits pretty much come right off momma's tit with little to no real life experience of supporting themselves. Seems that a third of those also have amounted to nothing and not found their place in the world. They reckon a uniform and gun shall change them into someone important and influential = BAD BULL!
Many recruits are apprehensive and have never been exposed to the dark side of society and then when faced with a career spent in a sewer of dangerous miscreants, they become fearful. Fear, and/or lack of self confidence, frequently results in over reaction and abuse of power.

Me thinks the minimum employment age should be 25 years with requirement of being self supporting (includes active military time) for a few years. Off my box.

NOTE: If you are the inverse of a equal opportunity hater, you must be LESS than a true hater - which is good in my book!
