Wheel install question for my r3t

Hi guys, I’m almost ready to reinstall my wheels with my new tires on my r3t. I know that I have to lube the splines with moly, but I’m asking about the axles themselves. Do I give them a coating of regular grease, or just slip them through dry and clean? They weren’t really greased up much when I removed them.
I think I’m all set with the job. I’m just not sure about this one thing.

I always put a smear of grease on the axle to make it easier to get out next time.

A nice light coating of water proof bearing grease is a good thing.

On the Harleys we always put nickel anti-sieze on front and rear axles, haven't changed a tire on my rocket yet.

Very thin coat will be fine. Use the same grease you use on the bearings. Axle does not turn. Just a rust preventative

You must be referring to a shaft off a Vespa...
