Okay gents, I have spent a bit over 1,200 miles this last weekend riding to the tail of the dragon, roads made for cruising, roads made for 4WD vehicles, and everything in between. The trip was amazing although I have to say the dragon is a good road, the area around it was what made the trip worth it. The one adjustment I made to the shifter was shortening the rear control to be higher so I get a more positive shift. That seems to have fixed any of the partial shifting.
The Good:
Ran fine and rode the way it should have. Plenty of power and happily cruising at 70 all day long (or at least 5.5 hours of it)
The roads were BEAUTIFUL! I spent more time on single-lane roads and slow (sub 30 mph) twisties, remembering what it was like to love riding a bike. I didn't hit a straight road for hours and it was blissful.
The Bad:
The stepper motor took a dump the last day. Thought I was good, and about 2 hours before I left, it would idle at 400-450 rpm and die, and the stepper motor was getting hot with no movement. Thankfully, on the almost 6-hour trip back, I think I had to come to a complete stop 3 times, the rest I rolled.
The left headlight decided it no longer wanted to fully work on low. Going to replace the set because lights are cheap, and deer season is upon us. The bumpy gravel roads magically fixed the light (as seen in the 3rd pic), but its back to flickering on low.
The front brake pads are going to need to be replaced and bleed. Toward the end of the third day, the lever got really soft.
And the worst, the right bag came loose on Friday and drooped down. This lets the lower bolt head of the bag hit the rear caliper for 200+ miles, and I need to buy a new caliper. It destroyed the caliper and created a groove along the whole thing (I will get a picture later). But I must say that I am not a fan of the Viking bags that came with this bike. They are mounted in the wrong spot (prior owner issue), and the paint has started to bubble for no reason.

All in all, it was a great getaway. I got some time off, a little bit of sleep, fresh air, and time to just zone out and ride a bike the way they were meant to be rode.
