Hi all,
I am intending to get one of the Viking Bags leather trunks for the R3R for next years long trips. I will also be fitting quick removable saddle bags. However, I want to be able to lock the trunk to the bike, and remove it easily. I haven't seen any quick release systems for trunks that would fit the R3, so I thought I would make my own. Can someone who has a luggage rack do me a favour and measure it so I can get the system to mount to it?
Here is a picture of what I have thus far. Will be a simple spring loaded key lock in the closest hole, bottom part mounted to bike, the other two main parts bolted to the trunk. Idea is that the pegs on the underside of the trunk are slid into the slots on the lower part, then the lock pressed in and locked blocking the possibility of the trunk sliding back out.
Any suggestions/comments are gratefully accepted.
