I've had experience with hard side cases and trunks on some bikes, but I'm a total newb when it comes to saddlebags.

If you get mounts like these, are they pretty universal to where they'll fit most saddlebags out there?

There are four mounting holes on each side of the Easy Brackets. You can drill the holes and mount the bags in any position up/down or forward/backward. I have Easy Brackets on two very different bikes and with the addition of two holes per bag, I can mount the same bags on either bike.

If your bags are soft material, they may sag a tad inward at the bottom. You could add some .050 aluminum plate to the inside of each bag as I did to prevent this.
