Had our local, (to me and Lupe anyway) Triumph, victory, polaris and indian dealer
catch fire Saturday night in the parts dept. and they lost everything .
No damage to the bikes that were out on the showroom, but the bldg. needs redone.
Structurally still sound, but the interior is smoke damaged
and the insurance says the bikes are too.
I went today to visit with the owners, Butch and Joyce.
About 30-40 new victorys sittin' outside.
probably 5 new indians I think it was.
About 15 new Triumphs out there too.
None for sale at a "smoke damaged" price.
The insurance adjuster said they were gonna crush them all.
t-shirts too, everything....even the ones still in the crates. CRUSHED...
4 or 5 new thunderbirds, 1 new R3T, Tigers, Americas, speed triples, all crushed.
Needless to say, I was sick at the thought.
Course, they'll have more inventory, but to crush all them fine Triumphs is just so wrong...

What a coincidence I have just started a crushing business and as a start-up deal I will crush those items for the price of shipping plus $1000 per unit. This is a one off offer so please relay it to them as soon as possible. There will be no insurance issues as all processes are done offshore.

Looking for a silent partner in your new venture Gothy:cool:

While I'll worked for CSX railroad and we had a derailment everything that was involved had to be destroyed auto racks full of new cars had 2 boxcars full of refrigerators and washers and dryers were not hurt but they all had to be destroyed. Seems that they had sold a car to someone who was involved in an accident a few years later was not her fault or the car but attorney found out that that car had been a salvage needless to say they sued CSX RR. :(

I'll sure get the message to them tomorrow Goth.
I may have to escort them to you, as I wouldn't want to chance any of your salvage items coming up missing in transport.

Heck I wanted to buy all the Triumphs for $1,000.00 each
and just get salvage titles for them.
insurance adjuster said NO.
Sounded like a fair deal to me, but he declined it.
But now offshore salvage and crushing, may have possibilities,,,,
I'll ask.;)

This is truly sad,
I work closely with insurance companies, Here in OZ they would put the bikes to auction to recoupe any losses, I Suspect the insurance company has no clue about what to do with the bikes as they focus primarily on the building and structure repairs etc. Or it could be their way of ovioding vultures or oportunists. They are a strange bunch at times!!!!

That's what the insurance guy said Jesse.
Said they'd be better off to "eat" the loss on the bikes,
than sell one and someone hurt themselves after they sold it,
then sue the insurance company for millions of dollars for selling a faulty or damaged bike.
but I'm sure the bikes alone were probably a million dollars worth of inventory...
that's crazy to crush it, but to cover their butts, I guess they have to.
Sure is a shame though...

If they won't send them to Oz - happy to help out with that little deal Goth ;) - then better they crush them. Imagine what it would do to resale values generally if these go off dirt cheap.
