I decided to increase the tension of my rear preload on my brand new R3 GT (50 miles on her). At some point turning up the tension I heard a fairly loud metallic "Clang". The bike did not drop down at all. I thought it might have been a valve stuck in a guide that decided to seat itself although the bike had not been running for at least an hour. Restarting the engine...all seems fine and sitting on the bike moving up sand down seems normal. The tension adjustment feels normal so I don't believe the spring broke.
The sound was too strong to be a valve returning to rest! It was loud enough that I thought, possibly, that one of my garage door springs had broken.
Could it have been the spring seating itself into its holding cup?
Any ideas are welcomed!
