Stator/Rotor Removal

Well I am down to the last two bolts to split the case on my 05 "locked up Transmission" engine. The only thing stopping me was the Stator/Rotor Assembly. Didn't want to spend 76 bucks on the tool, so I rented one from a dealership yesterday. Just came in from the garage to get some feedback. That sucker is so tight that I can't budge it. If I use cheater bars for extra leverage I'm afraid of stripping the threads on the tool and thus losing my deposit. Looking for advice.

Is it on a taper? Usually tension on the bolt and then a good whack with a hammer does the trick. Heat also helps.

Would be worried heat might damage stator. One also has to be careful smacking magnets as it degrades the magnetism. Mine came off surprisingly easy. No heat or smacking. What does the tool look like you are using ? It should look like a huge bolt with a pointed end.

Norm, if this is what you are asking, this is a shot of the rear of the Engine with the Stator and Rotor removed.
Second photo (found at Google images) is the Rotor.

It's a taper fit like a Morse or Jarno taper. Tighten the bolt up as tight as you can without bending things and then whack the hex end of the bolt with a 3 lb mallet. The shock will release the taper and she will come right off. Neater than sliced bread.

Also the shaft is Woodruff key seated. Make sure you neither drop, lose nor forget to put it back in when you reassemble her.
