During my winter check , I decided to put a dab of grease on the throttle cables , and take some slack out of them. Took the two screws out get at the top of the cables. found the pull cable had two strands broken. Bike has just under 50K.
Needless to say it was time for a change. Easy replacement. I adjusted them properly . On my test run I was really surprised at the difference. The old cable had gained just enough length through normal use to slowly induce slop into the throttle. I really like the throttle response. Also nice to know that the cable will not go out on me a hundred miles from the nearest dealer.

Glad you found it prior to it breaking, as some others have not been as fortunate.

Yes you mate also others on the site. After reading that you had to ride with a reversed throttle I and another R3 owner bought spare cables to keep on the bike - just in case..... But since we have these spare cables, given Murphy's law -we will never need them!
