Just finished my install of the series regulator and am real happy with results. Ran bike around town and the regulator stayed at ambient temperature. Let bike idle until radiator fan cut on and regulator was just slightly above ambient. I know, plenty of fins for cooling but works like a champ with virtually no heat from the regulator!

New harness like you did to positive with inline fuse, my terminal was loose on battery my first shakedown ride after getting bike back together and the fuse blew on that positive from r/r and you know what happened, luckily my batt drops to 10.5 and disconnects leaving at 10.5 until problem is rectified no pun intende. your settup is professional and i like professional

The red wire to the battery is actually the positive lead to the relay of my air horn compressor and Thunderbird horn. I am using stock wiring for regulator.

Very good tip/idea, thanks.

I don't understand. Why is this needed and what does it do to improve the bike ?
well the sh-87 is better. this is a good place to put it, the case for it just class, show quality stuff, that fan because hes a perfectionist. you should do it, red oh my that will look good. Certainly you have a sh-87 right

The regulator is suppose to save wear and tear on the stator by reducing the electrical load thus reducing heat. Since I run LED headlights and running lights, the load is even reduced more. It also helps the oil in the engine run cooler and adds more horse power. Since the install, my water temp dropped 3-4 degrees (probably my imagination). The fan is probably not needed as the regulator runs quite cool. I have the fan installed to keep air moving over the regulator when bike is stationary and idling.
