Can anyone tell me if a Russell Day Long seat, with the two pin locating system, will fit an R3T?

Nope - as the R3T seats wont fit on the R3.

Is the shape of the pan different, or is it just the shape of the bracket that's different?

To solve the mystery for you Paul, I have such a seat and wondered about taking it to Oz with me next year to fit onto Dave's R3T I'm hiring for three weeks. I'll just have to make do with me AirHawk.

As I understand it - and this was from a triumph dealer - the securing mechanism is all different. For a definitive answer why not take the rdl to a dealers and plop it on the bike?

Thew seat on an R3T is held on with 3 bolts. 1 center rear verticly into fender, 1 each side just in front of shocks angled towards back of bike.
