Hi everyone, got a weird one for y'all....
I'm a clean-freak and I decided after being caught in the rain to strip easy parts off my 3R to clean.
I took off the OEM muffler assembly which was easy (3 bolts)
I did the right thing and bought a new OEM gasket but for the life of me, I cannot get the clamp and sleeve assembly back on the header pipe without the sleeve (ring) falling out. The clamp must be spread apart to get on the header pipe so i am unable to keep the sleeve to stay in there. 3 weeks and still cant get it
Any ideas???
Many thanks.....:)

This is the picture of the clamp from the service manual, but it keeps saying you should note the position of the clamp when it is removed so it goes back right. Is this the clamp you are having trouble with?

Its the sleeve thats inside that clamp that holds the gasket. The manual wont show if it goes into the headpipe first, or if it goes into the clamp as a duo, then mount....

The only thing I can think of, is the sleeve ring might have to be tapped with a hammer into the headpipe since they are almost identical in diameter. If that is the case, I just put the clamp over it, insert muffler and gasket, then tighten. Sadly the workshop manual doesnt go into detail.

The new gasket is on the muffler as per the dealership. The 2nd pic is the clamp and gasket sleeve. The 3rd is the sleeve inside the clamp.
However the narrow end of the sleeve ring is almost the same diameter as the headpipe, which means each time i try to mount the clamp assembly, the headpipe pushes the sleeve ring out.

Sorry, can’t be more help myself as I’ve not removed mine. There are a few guys here who have modded the stock pipe rather than change to aftermarket, so they’d have had to put it back. I’d suggest maybe do a search and DM one of them?

Appreciate your help, here and on YT. Hope they can be of help because I'm out of ideas

That seems funny because I don't remember having that ring at all when I changed my silencers. Just the muffler, gasket, and the clamp.
