I've noticed the last few rides the rear drive unit is so hot I can't hold my hand on it but a few seconds. It has only been a few hundred miles since the annual service was done. The one where the engine was two complete quarts low of oil. Wasn't even on the dipstick. Remember that.
Anyway, today I decide to drain and inspect for shavings or anything and refill with Mobil 1 75w/90 synthetic gear lube. What came out, literally ran out was like motor oil. Kind of golden colored and very thin. There was a black smudge on the drain plug magnet but no particles. I honestly think they had put motor oil in my rear drive unit. Like a Harley, the same oil in all three holes.
Dunno, but I'm gonna ride it hard this afternoon in the 90f heat and see if it feels any different.
