This TFC will fool you on how fast you traveling, Wonder what is best Radar Detector out there. Last Radar anything I used was back in 1969 it had vacuum tubes.

I guess it depends on where you live. I have radar detectors in both cars and most often see Ka band. Occasionally Laser but not as often.

I've used both Valentine 1 and Escort on a number of bikes. Both work well if set up properly. A couple of the newer Escorts have the directional arrows like the V1, but don't bother looking at those until you scrub off some speed. You either need connection to ear plugs or less reliable visual enhancement. Mounted on the bars it will be out of your line of site and without an audio alert in your helmet you'll likely never see or hear it.

As noted, common sense will be the biggest tool in your ticket avoidance kit. When out of city traffic, scan far ahead, if you're the only vehicle traveling in your direction you're very vulnerable. Laser and instant on Ka will nail you before you can react, even with the best detector. A well traveled road is safer as speed traps will likely be shooting ahead of you and a good detector will give you plenty of advance notice. Having somebody blow by you at a high rate of speed is the safest invitation for some fun. Give them a bit of distance and they will be the one scooped up.

I have 'Adaptiv'...made for motorcycles...360 degree warning...saved my fast arse a few times....i have a led warning light fixed to my bars and a bluetooth warning buzzer in my helmet by my ear. You can get a similar bluetooth led light in your helmet under the visor line in front of your eye.
Cobber has that.

You guys realize that Radar and Lidar travel at the speed of light right? You will not pick up a signal from the said Radar on the detector in the passive mode. After he sees you and estimates your speed then flicks the radar/Lidar on and you're history. When your detector goes off it's from a cop using the radar in the area so he may be a mile away on a different street when the waves are picked up. You did not escape a ticket like so many believe they do. It wasn't pointed at you. If he has you in his sights your toast. The best deterrent is a CB on a Truckers channel.

True....but if i hear or see the signal going off i button back abit...he could be comin at me a couple of km's away and usually is.
Dont fancy listening to all the shyte on a cb thanx...'Yeah m8, i worked 18hrs yesterday....that wanker despatcher had me going back for another load.."...i've driven loggers for 20 plus years and no longer have a cb for that very reason...

Good Advice. I've been know to "entice" folks in their hot rod who didn't like the thought of being passed to "Show me what they got" and blow by me... PERFECT!:whitstling::ninja:

You guys should't complain. Detectors are flat-out banned in Oz. The cops even have detector detectors that will nail you if you have an operating detector on board.

Fines are massive.. haven't looked it up, but years ago it was something like $1,500 on the spot... and automatic confiscation of your device.

If you had the device hidden, they could impound your vehicle and tear it apart to find it. You can imagine what condition the vehicle would be in when you got it back.

And that's the reason cops love radar detectors. The Cops leave their Radar on while driving around knowing everyone within a 2 mile radius with a detector is picking up the Radar signal and slamming their brakes on. It slows people down without the Cops in plain sight. Now all these drivers that had their detectors activated believe they narrowly escaped a ticket. If you are faster than 186,000 miles per second you did in fact beat the radar.
