We had a good turnout in Spearfish, SD. July 10-16. We all met at the Travelodge at exit 14. 29 folks and 26 bikes came to ride. Of these we had 14 Rockets. This was a roller so we stayed in Spearfish for 3 nights then moved to Lovell, WY. for a night staying at the Western Motel. Then we moved on to Cody, WY for 2 nights staying at the Sunrise Motel. Great rides at all these locations including riding through the Black Hills, Spearfish Canyon Hwy, Custer State Park, Needles, Keystone, Hill City, Lead, Deadwood, Mt Rushmore, Devils Tower, Bear Tooth Pass, Yellow Stone, and so many other mountain roads and passes. The riding in this area is just spectacular.

Riding to Lovell we stopped in Buffalo, WY. for lunch at a little cafe that was full. No room for our group of 16 riders and the 4 folks in 2 cars. So we looked next door at the hotel and the bar next door. The bar was closed but they decided to accommodate our group. What a good time in this very unusual place. Our youngest participant was Xavier who is 1olbull's 12 yo grandson. He was allowed to play the piano while we waited for our food. Xavier played very well for about 20 minutes. What a treat.

The ride continued on to Red Lodge, MT. We rode through so many mountain passes and twisty roads that have scenery so awesome sometimes it was hard to keep an eye on the road. Red Lodge is on of the places heavily damaged by the extreme floods you may have heard about that also damaged and closed parts of Yellowstone Nat. Park. Bear Tooth Pass is closed due to the road being washed away in places. We had to backtrack a little and come down out of the mountains then just take the low road to Cody. From this side we did get to ride to the peak of Bear Tooth Pass (10,947 Ft.) but due to the road closures on the north side we had to turn around and return to Cody. No sad faces as this road is so fun, doing it twice going both ways is a blast.
