Question on Painting the Radiator shroud

Until Evilbob can come up with an answer about carbon fibre for the radiator shroud I have a question for any Rocket owners who have painted their radiator shroud. What, if any success has anyone had in painting the radiator shroud and how did you remove or prepare the chrome for painting? Also, how is it holding up to wear? Thanks.

No experience with the shroud but I did paint a plastichrome headlight on my old VTX. I used duplicolor paint from wally world, just cleaned the part with alcohol, no sanding, and painted. Turned out looking very good. Held up great. Wash and waxed it often. It looked like I had just painted it when I got rid of the bike, 2 years later.

I used a plastic bumper paint in black, its flexible and its not stonechipped yet, comes in an arsole can, rubbed the shine off the "chrome" with 180 grit paper.

Gave mine to the powder coater. 1 year on, there are 1 or 2 chips, but its holding up well overall.
