2005 Rocket 3/2014 Moto Guzzi Touring
This showed up on the local Craig's list, 98 Moto Guzzi V11EV, good miles and great shape according to the ad. Seller owns multiple bikes and vintage cars and needs to thin the herd. I am going to look at this "Ugly Goose" Sunday morning. Never owned or ever rode a Guzzi before, but ****ed if this one isn't calling out to me. (I was even thinking of an eventual sidecar addition.) Any current or former owners here with input, good or bad.......

Gday

I'm the same never owned or even ridden a Guzzi but sorta liked them, met a guy with Dr John replica once too and was impressed, I've always wanted this model, it also came with wire wheels as an option.

I believe the electrics are a bit unreliable but I would be prepared to put up with it, go for it you only live once.

...If I went shopping for new pairs of shoes, I'd no doubt stumble across an ugly, mangy, flea-ridden, dysfunctional, 3-legged doughy mutt left in a box in some random park.....I'd take it home, wash it, feed it and love it forever - I imagine that's pretty much how all guzzis find homes too.....

Had a Series II Le Mans many years ago (for a very short while) parts are really really expensive (here in Australia anyway) and hard to get to boot. Save your dosh and find yourself another old Triumph I reckon.

Guzzis are what they are. Some EARLY EV's have a really uncomfy seat - but that seems to have an after market seat.

If I had to choose 1 marque to ride it would be Guzzis. And OLD ones. They're pretty close to bulletproof - as the engines were designed for an Army 3 wheeler.
I spend pretty much a day a week at mates shop. He specialises in Guzzis.

I've had this since 1982 - It'll be absolutely the last bike I own.

Old spares are simply close to non existent. And round barrel LeMans and early Cali's are really in demand. My mate here buys every scrap Guzzi he can find for spares - all spares. He's Italian and brings a van load of old bikes back every year. A big hit has been the closure of Stucchi who made 90% of accessories.

He's just finished a LM1 restoration
.
Beyond what I'm prepared to pay. My favourite Guzzi (I've often had several at once) was a LeMans2 during the mid '80's - But I was riding it WAY too fast to be safe for me or my licence. One day : 120miles in 100minutes - NO motorway and a lot of lanes. Now there's simply TOO MUCH traffic in the UK to come close. Got home and told my mum I'd be selling it.

My heart yearns for a 1959 Falcone 500cc single. Or a V1000-Convert (like Rocking Horse Manure).
