Did you try "Pull-along photo"?
Slow shutter speed and moving the camera with the object.
You get that dynamic look.
...

I'm not sure what settings the guy used on his camera, when you say pull along photo do you mean someone driving along side you and taking photos? He also took photos of my GS the same day and i think they have turned out better, possibly due to the bikes colour

There are different techniques. You can stand and follow the bike with your camera. Or as you said drive along with it. But it is always slow shutter speed to have that motion blur in the background.
