I was using the PCIII map comparison feature and would like to save the
map generated from the averages of two other maps so that I don't have to
manually edit each cell by hand.

Did I miss an option that allows you to save it?

I tried copying and pasting the results from the compare window to the main
window like a spreadsheet but that didn't seem to work either.

If this feaure doesn't exist in the PCIII or Tuneboy, then it sounds like an RFE.

If you are talking about TuneEdit program to save a map you select File then Save Tune File. I see an Apply PCIII map feature but haven't come across a comparision feature yet. Where is that at?

It's under "Tools" -> "Map Compare".

It can read in 2 different maps, let you view either one along with their air/fuel graphs,
do difference/delta comparisons, and averages between the two.

I'd like to take my stock map, average it with a fully-tuned map from a bike with
similar characteristics, save it, upload it to the bike, test it, and keep repeating the process
until I get it the best I can and then have the dyno guy put the finishing touches on it.

This methodology (hopefully) would get me very close to optimal performance and
cut down on the time and expense of the final dyno tune. Thats the plan now.

Without the ability to save the custom map with the averages I will have to hand enter
all the changes...

I would recommend doing some reading on what tuneboy has to offer over the PCIII because there isn't enough room here to do it. To start there is an infinite number of finer settings one can achieve on fuel delivery (a 20 x 32 grid per cylinder) as well as ignition mapping, secondary plate openings, speedo correction, datalogging..............

I didnt play w/ it to much but I was able to right click .... select all and copy the map and paste it to a notebook file....... then maybe just make a new map from there.

PCIII map compare and saving the averages of two maps

OK, I figured it out. Here are the steps:

1. Select Tools -> Map Compare
2. Select Open Map File - load maps as needed
3. Select Fuel table 1 on the maps to compare (2 max)
4. Click on Average Table in center window
5. Drag the cursor across entire new map (or just the cells to transfer)
6. Right Click and select copy
7. Close the Map Compare window (shouldn't have to but you do)
8. Highlight the cells you want to change or entire map area
9. Right click and select Paste to copy in the saved averages data
10. Save the new map
11. Upload the new map to the bike
12. Test how the changes effect the performance characteristics
13. Repeat as necessary

ps. Yes, I'm sure that the Tuneboy has more controls and options but
I just dropped US$300+ on the PCIII and need to make do until I see
a critical need to switch.

A PCIII trade-in program might persuade me to swap (hint, hint).
