hi folks I'm new and in the market for a rocket , I'm wondering if there is any years to avoid or issues to look for when I am doing pre purchase checkout

Welcome mate from one of the Aussies.
Buy as later model as you can afford - most important updates were done by 2009 I think.

Hello John I have a 2008 classic which has served me well.... welcome to the club..... Sportsman...

Welcome from Indiana. A major consideration seems to be ABS or not. I am glad my Beast has ABS, but others do necessarily share my opinion regarding its value. But to each their own and it should be part of your evaluation.

Mittzy gave you the same advice I got before purchasing mine.
But be certain when you go to look at one you don't take your checkbook with you. After the first test ride there is normally a purchase inevitable.
Good hunting!

Hi John ,welcome from Florida. As already said go with the latest model you can afford. Also lowest milage, are you looking for a Roadster or R3T.It would be helpful to others to know your location for future assistance.

If I were to buy another rocket it would be a 2009 classic, best look, floor boards, and up dated motor. IMHO
Oh yea welcome to the club.

I am looking roadster , if I understand it correctly the touring has a cut in horsepower

Yes, but that can be fixed with a new tune using a 20$ cable and free tuning program called tune ecu. I have a R3T (touring) new cans and a tune. Runs like a raped ape!

Any model 08 which has a VIN number above 337294 should be safe and have the updated components in them already. And then of course all 09 models. I prefer the older ones for the ecu and the fact that triumph used a color other then Black :D
