Need a Clue

I just got a "Friendship Request" and I have no idea what that's all about. I'm not as savvy on computers as I am on reactivity fundamentals, so will someone kindly clue me in on what the "friend" thing is all about. Note: I don't do Facebook (I'm a geezer or a geekster (depending on your view point (and how much paralax your willing to throw in))).

It's just an add on for this forum. Go into your user profile (click on your username on the upper left or go into User CP) there you can accept or decline the request. Then your friend's avatar will be displayed under "friends" on your profile.
