motor knock

Had the bike out and the motor started knocking. Thinking it's the timing chain but not sure. When No load on the motor it shut down. Got it running to get me home but not sure if it's timing chain, tensioner, or something else. I have an 05 w/ 35000 miles on it. I am the only owner. Yes I drive it hard. Anyone have any thought or knowledge about what I am experiencing?

Timing chains were usually a ticking not a knocking, hope it is not anything serious and a 2005rocket with 35000 miles has not been driven/rode hard that is extremely low miles for a thirteen year old bike.
My 2005 has 70000 and I have not been on it in over two years .

Can you be more specific ? Was it a mechanical clack? Did it come from top , middle , bottom or rear of the engine ? Has the bike been laid up ? What fuel is in it ?
