I have inherited my Dad's Rocket. He had an issue with the ignition switch and replaced the ignition, fuel cap, and seat release. The problem was he lost the original keys to them and the copies he had were cut poorly and you have to fiddle and wiggle the key repeatedly to get to turn. Fortunately he had purchased spare parts here and there and stored them for just in case situations, including a replacement seat release, fuel cap, and core for the ignition.

My question is: Is there a trick to remove the old ignition core or do I need a core removal key? And if the core removal key is needed, can I get one not being a dealer, mechanic, or locksmith? Any help or knowledge is appreciated.

Hello PCWestberry and welcome from Virginia.

You may want to go to an actual key cutter who can fix the issue with the older keys. Should be less cost and less time.
