Do any of you guys know how to increase the Red Line on older Rockets with TuneECU ?

I would like to increase my red line from 6800 to 7200. My bike is a 2006 using tune number 20228.

Bill,
What do you reckon to gain by doing this?

Will moving your redline from 6800 to 7000 still be worthwhile on your 2006 R3?

This needs to be verified by the gurus and I haven't tried it but this may be the way to get 7000 RPM rev limit using TuneECU 2.5.8

Q. Can the TuneECU HEX file "9000rpm/249mph TuneECU map TEMPLATE Rocket III (20222) 1.0" be used on non-Carpenterized 2004-2006 R3's??
It was uploaded by 'R-III-R Turbo' 9/17/18.

Q. Will the standard TuneECU 2.5.8 work or is a special version needed for the additional 7-9000 RPM settings?

IFF Yes & Yes:

1. Download "9000rpm/249mph TuneECU map TEMPLATE Rocket III (20222) 1.0" from the Resources, unzip, open with TuneECU
2. Change RPM to 7000 max for stock motors
3. Change idle to what you like - 950-960?
4. Change 2nd Throttle settings to 100 if you want to derestrict
5. Update other cells from another file for your mods? TBD
6. Update Map Infos describing your new tune
7. Save map
8. Connect to bike
9. Upload current ECU map
10. Save it
11. Open your custom map
12. Download it to ECU
13. Perform ISCV Reset as per instructions
14. Perform 12-minute tune (clock starts after fan turns on)
15. Test
16. Update r3owners

Seems to me that the 04-09 Rockets (standard, Classic, Tourer) maps top rev limit selectable is 6800rpm.
And for Touring, Roadsters the selectable limit is 7000rpm.

If you use the 04-09 Rockets 9000rpm limit map, when you try to set the rev limit lower than 9000, it jumps down to 6800rpm.
Same thing happens the Touring & Roadster 9000rpm limit maps, when you touch the rpm limit parameter, it jumps down to 7000rpm as the max selectable.

Alain made us these maps with 9000rpm as the rev limit, but stopped short of giving us the ability to select any rpm up to 9000rpm. You can have 0 to 6800/7000rpm, or 9000rpm. There is also an 8000rpm map for 2013+ Roadsters, that behaves the same way.

So - long story short - if you want 7000rpm rev limit on a 04-09 Rocket, we will need to ask Alain to provide a 20222-series map with 7000rpm limit.

Apart from the valve assembly issues with going over 7k as per Nev, I'd imagine a set of cams that doesn't peak as early as 6000rpm would be beneficial

OK, thanks for the clarification.

I read the map into TuneECU last night but didn’t actually try to adjust the RPM parameter. I see now that as soon as you touch it it resets to 6800.

I must be a wussy as I’ve never hit 6800...

My 06 has a completely stock motor and the hp peaks at 7100.
