1600 roadstar looking to buy an r3
I am looking at buying a 2004 r3 with 32,000 miles on it. I'm coming to you all help me make a decision whether to buy this or not. I would like information on a few topics. They are..
What's the opinion about a 2004 r3 is it dependable, or troublesome?
What should I look for when I go to check the bike out?
Also, are there forward controls for the 2004. I love the bike but the riding position does not inspire me at all. This are three is a four-hour drive to look at from the twin cities in Minnesota all the way over to just above Milwaukee. Please get back to me when you can I would really really appreciate some real life advice

Welcome to our Rocket group. I see no comments. Let me try. First, since you’re new, please introduce yourself. Not much is done until the welcome mat is out. Good luck.

Hello you all. My name is Bryan and I am up here in the twin cities Minnesota. Glad to be here!

Your question. My friend started with a 2005. Great bike. His controls were forward. We rode that ride for probably 25,000 miles. Tuff to beat it. Matter of fact, he never lost. Built the motor a bunch. Sure road nice and he kept it until 2020 the GT‘s arrived and he bought the first one in Western Michigan. I miss the 05.

Welcome…you asked for an opinion so here it is.
if I had your roadstar and the rocket, I’d want to ride the rocket but own the roadstar.
I suppose the biggest question is how much will you be paying for it? Make sure when you test it you give the gearbox a thorough workout. This is the only really questionable thing on the older rockets. If the update kit has been fitted then that will be a positive. The electrical issues they had are easy to overcome.

Do you have pics of the bike? Do you have any history of mods

Thank you for the advice it's a long ride to go look at this r3 and I want to make sure it's worthwhile. It's a 2006 with 32,000 miles on it if that makes a difference

Forward controls are pretty much a must for me and I wonder if there any handlebars that I can trade the stock ones out for
