Noticed my headlight not working today; neither low, nor hi beam. Aux/fog lights work fine. The tiny little aux bulb inside the bucket lights up, but not the main bulb. I have the EB relay.

What's typical life of bulb? Any easy stuff to try before I buy a new bulb? I've been riding since 1970 and have never lost a headlight. And that includes a lot of Lucas stuff, too! Several Triumphs and BSAs down thru the years, all of their headlights worked.

burnt bulb is possible but more than likely it is a corroded or loose connection. Dielectric grease will prevent corrosion and is a good practice on all electrical connections. Wiggle the connections and you should see a flicker if there is a faulty connection. If you eliminate faulty connections then probably a burnt bulb. I always test the bulb because spent bulbs don't always look spent.
