Gearbox woes

I went out for good long ride today in the spring sun. Everything was fine till I turned to head home and the gears became difficult to find.I was also getting neutrals between the gears.
Some of the gears ,mainly 4th were grinding on the downchange.
I think it also jumped out of some gears or maybe it wasnt in right in the 1st place.
I managed to ride it home staying in 5th on the freeway,but still was able to find the other gears when need be.
The linkages on the gearshifter seem like they are operating normally.
Clutch feels normal.
Its got 20000klms on it and has been looked after.
I think the warranty period expires this month or last month so Ill be contacting the dealer at opening time in the morning.


Anyone else had anything similar?

Probably the detente spring and will be fixed under warranty although 2 weeks out

I have the same problem, just haven't gotten around to fixing it.

Sounds like some have done this already, anyone have a step by step that will save me some time? I'm already into month 4 of apathy...

Good pics and advice from Scott and Ian (and paranoid, girly-man comments from me).

My spring wasn't broke, but I fried the steels.
Ian let me keep the locking tool he made for me. PM me and I'll mail it to you.

All fixed by the dealer at no charge to me.Took 6 business days from speaking to them to get the spring and do the job. Thanks JCS Motorcycles

Great news Zim so was it the selector/detent spring that IDK was talking about?

Yep,IDK nailed it,detente spring. Feels even better than before.
