The tires on my 06 Classic are in need of replacement but the front tire has worn considerably more on the left side. I have noticed that the bike wants to pull to the left when I let go of the handle bars. While riding it does not seem like I'm having to perceptively correct my course but I must be. So, do you folks think that this would cause the uneven wear and what would be a possible fix? Thanks!

Crowned roads are more noticeable to the darksiders like myself. For me to ride hands free on most of the roads around here I have to shift my butt a little to the left in the seat. Or I could carry some ballast in my left saddle bag.

I prefer to keep my hands on the handle bars.

I have read a couple of posts suggesting that after installing forward dresser bars the bike would pull left or right. This was believed to be caused by a slight misalignment of the engine in the mount, a result of installing the dresser bars with the bike supported by the side stand.

I noticed the same thing when having the tire on my 1500 Vulcan replaced, so I asked a tech if he thought there was something out of wack. After a long bit of blah blah blah He told me it could be as simple a thing as the way I sit on the bike when it goes down the road. So I made an effort to see if I indeed leaned to one side while I road, turns out I do lean a bit to the left according to some riding buddys.
Hope its that simple for you as well...good luck

Tyre wear

Hi in the UK we ride on the left and alot of riders notice that when they go abroad (where they ride on the other side)that sometimes their bike feel funny. Many years ago (20) I worked for a tyre dealer that specialised in bike tyres and often riders would put a new set of rubber on before they went on holiday abroad they would then say that on returning home there bike handled strangely.

The Michelin rep said that he heard this alot and it was due to the crown of the road. These days it seems less of an issue since Radial tyres are used much more but I have no idea why.

Normal....

The crown of the road does have a bit to do with it, but if you think about it, every right hand turn you take here takes a shorter distance than it's Left hand tuen on the same road, because we ride on the right side.

So, more time leaned over on the left side of the tire, with higher speeds, means the wear adds up on the left-hand side.

No worries.
