Going pick up my bike from Carpenter in 2 weeks, and getting excited.
Called this morning and talked to Bob Carpenter. He was telling me that my first 2 main bearings have been overheated, and caused some damage. I need a new case, crankshaft, and connecting rods. So that will add to the cost of my job.

On the plus side, it will still be ready by the 14th for me to pick up. Then I can start doing damage to my back tire, and lots of bugs, but hopefully not my driver's licence, and insurance premiums.

Bob have any idea what caused the damage or have any recommendations for preventing it in the future?

He said cheap oil, or dirty oil would cause that, but I use the Mobil 1 4T, and change it regular.
So he said that when Triumph puts the R3s together the tolerances are really tight, so the break in period is really important. It can't be ignored like on some other motors.
