If there is a common issue with the detent spring failing should triumph be covering the repair out of warranty or are the numbers too small of a % to call it a common failure

The common issue is probably that they are put on incorrectly and the spring was nicked slightly with a pair of long nosed pliers or screwdriver, causing a weak spot.

Lost mine on my Roadster not too long ago. It had never been opened. 30K miles.

A spring just has so many cycles in it and then it is going to break. the better the material and process the longer the spring will last. a spring is like a chain that breaks at the weakest spot. and most of the time it will break at the 90 degree bend.

It's surprising how many low mile R3's are out there since the bikes are so dam fun to ride I wonder tho' when more start getting around the 50k mark if the tranny problem will show up more.

Don't know if it's a common problem, not come across it before but obviously others have. How much trouble is it to get done? If in early years I reckon Triumph should pay-they won't though.
