I am taking my Rocket down the Blue Ridge Parkway from North to South and back in about 5 days if anyone wants to join me. I plan to go all the way to the end, only got to Asheville last time. I plan to go about 250 miles a day, 2-3 hours riding in the morning, find a nice place to eat, couple hours of riding after. Chill at cheap hotels.

Send me a PM. I live just off the Parkway near Asheville. I would ride to the Cherokee end with you as long as you stay out of Maggie Valley which is where Soco Road intersects at the top of the ridge. Infested with Chromo's down in there.

Check the Park Service website for current closures. I know one section is closed because the detour takes you out to I-40.

BRP is nice and scenic but the really fun roads are some of the ones that intersect it.

a couple fav's of mine...

221 between Blowing Rock/Linville is a nice parallel course to the PWY

@ Little Switzerland, which is on PWY (good places to eat & stay) you can do the 226ALT-226 LOOP (do it counterclockwise--passing zones on the uphill)

a bit farther south is rt 80...very intense twisty south of BRP

& many more...

That's because this thread should have been in Mid-Atlantic.

I think that's a great idea and while I don't think I can afford the whole time, would be able to meet up with someone somewhere.

How's that for definitive ?

LoL . . .

I *still* think this is a good idea . . . or do we only have energy to plan the Rockets around the mid-Atlantic ?
