hi to all.
has anybody had a problem with there balance shaft.
i seem to have a bad grinding noise coming from the left
hand side of my bike,only every now and again.
if i am running down hill with the motor dead the noise is
still there.
any body got any idears

Well, the balance shaft is on the right side.. if you're sitting on the bike. The transmission is on the left.. Some people have had transmisson problems, mostly with 2nd gear as I recall reading and Triumph has fixed them under warranty.

However, they're not all bad, mine has 63K miles on it and the transmission shifts better ever.

There was a problem with the output shaft bearing on the early 04 -06 the bearing is in the engine housing left side, just where the drive shaft comes out.

The problem is the internal oilways are too small and the bearing get insuficient oil supply and runs semi dry.. I have mine replaced by Triumph free after warranty had expired..complete update kit..it cost me AU$1200 for the 20 hr labour.. bikes great now.

Suggest you run it thru a dealer and ask for free update kit :D
