Wondering how the black 'Nightster' bars or 'Sportster" would go comfort -wise on the R3 using Rivco Risers........Currently using Valkyrie bars which are a huge improvement over the stock bars, but remain open to getting a narrower bar.

I fitted black bars from a Nightster. Dunno how they would be with risers, but they are perfectly comfortable without them. They pull you forwards just enough to compensate for the wind dragging you backwards at decent speeds, if you do a lot of town riding, or have a screen fitted, I would use the risers. This is before replacing the crap standard mirrors.

and after;

The steering felt a bit heavier at very low speeds, but is unnoticeable after five minutes. Owl and Sully can verify that I have no trouble getting it from full lean one side to full lean the other in quick succession, as they were behind me on Saturday on series of S bends.

Yeah, thanks for that great pic Perds, gives me a good idea of what they would look like.Years ago my Low Rider Sport had Sporty bars as stock gear and i quite liked that set up..I think the Risers would be neccessary though as i sit behind a 20"Windvest.
Question ;Did you have to change the stock cabling,brake lines & clutch cable?
Pretty much half of my 40000klm ridden on the R3 has been on a tight twisty very bumpy mountain road that you often can only do about 70kph at the most in some places.I believe this combination of riding with the stock bars has given me a chronic elbow condition that has strangely moved from the right to the left arm.(well that excludes self -abuse!) :lol:
Thus the move to Valk bars so far.When you say there is more effort at slow speed with the Sporty bars , it makes me wonder if that could exacerbate the arm probs.Hey this is serious ya know, it interferes with me raising a beer to my face :wink: at times! :lol:

No cable changes as the bars are lower, narrower and less pull back. Even with risers stock cables will be fine.

I only really noticed the extra effort when pushing it around my driveway, once moving it's barely perceptible. I spend most of my time riding the twisties in North Wales and I've never noticed any ill effects.

If it effects your ability to lift a beer, just move on to JD, works for me. :wink:

Still too much standard stuff on it Rab. It's Pazzo levers n Predators next. :wink:

It's simply a matter of etiquette.

Perdy arranged the rideout & led it - it would of been bad manners to overtake him, otherwise me & Sully would have had him :lol:
