Looking for a shift light and came across the Speedhut's SST-MAX-OBDII. Says it plugs directly into the OBD connector so basically plug and play. E-mailed the folks at Speedhut to check capability with our Rocket and of course their reply was "?????, you'll need to find out if your vehicle uses OBDII". However the website claims it is capability with all 2008 and newer vehicles and: "Works directly from the vehicles ECU using the CAN (J1979) protocol". Does anyone know if it will work with our bikes?

The R3 is NOT OBDII - But many OBD devices will work - It is AFAICR OBD1 plus a bit. If all it uses is the RPM PID - should work.

HOWEVER - over the last month I have learned a fair bit about our ECU's from Rob and self investigation.

I would NOT be too reliant on what the ECU says. Mainly because I understand it's not the fastest thinker out there.

Want a shift light? - connect the **** thing to the coil. It's simple and no sneaky Trumpet engineer has played with the output values.
