Alternator / stator cover

Just a quick question, can anyone tell me if I need to pull the engine to remove the stator cover? I know the service manual tells you to pull the engine out to "service" the stator but I just want the cover off.

Pull the motor, or tilt up the frame to clear, is about it.

Tilt up the frame? A few inches or to the point I should just take out two more bolts and remove the engine?

yup its a tilt up the frame. And 2 more bolts is it to pull it. it depends on the captain going in there.

when i did one just lowered motor or raised frame about 3-4 inches (left plug wires/coil wires ) removed bolts loosened cover and rotate a little and it came right out.
don't forget to remove oil sending unit at back of motor

Good to hear. I didn't want to pull the engine completely out. Thanks for the info.
