Clearing out a rental property, I found a brand new 2-up Triumph seat and the part number matches this bike. I'll post a pic or two. More pics available by email.
Anybody need it? Looks like it retails for about $450. My price is $200 plus shipping from 94509. I never owned the bike so I can't tell you any more about it.

This will ship from Antioch, CA 94509 and it weighs 7.5 lbs, if that helps estimate shipping.

Part number T2301980 is on the seat.

Edit: I was wrong, without seeing more part numbers and base mounts it is now clearly a stock R3T Dual seat.
The rest below is correct still. ;)
The Gel seats have a tell tale 'glossy rubbery' untextured top vinyl seat fabric with a rough almost hard plastic/vinyl highly textured side vinyl panels. There are two Dual (Touring and Roadster) and the Rider/pillion GEL seat versions.
ALL BELOW are R3 Standard/Classic/Roadster seats and NOT for the later released R3 Touring model bike.
The pillion rear portion on the two part seats has a Triumph logo embossed on that textured vinyl and the logo is possibly on the Dual seat's pillion rear too.

Touring Gel seat. If it fit my Roadster I'd probably jump on it...too bad.
It won't fit your Roadster we know now. But is not Gel.

If you want the Classic Dual seat WITH the Rider's backrest hole AND the backrest, I have a brand new unused set sitting in the USA right now.

You are definitely the seat expert Ish! I went back to the link where I saw that description and didn't notice the fine print that said A9700500 Touring seat gel (replaces T2301980). I'm still on the fence/hunt for what I want to put on my Roadster...

Just looking at some more pics from Dan that he emailed me regarding the seat. Looking at the mounting brackets, and then in another email, this is definitely looking like a Touring seat
Dan, Hope you don't mind that I shared the pics you emailed. Might help avoid confusion and minimize unnecessary questions. As you can see if you try researching these seats (as I'm running into now-it can be confusing. The important part is not only what the seat looks like on top, but how it attaches on the bottom.

The vinyl on this one is all of one type, no rough side panels. I've had a Corbin gel seat before and this does not feel like gel to me.
It is comfy but conventional, I think.
When I turned it over (duh!), the plastic wrapper on this one says A9700209 LONG HAUL TOURING SEAT DUAL with a July '10 date.

That number maps to this:

Of course I don't know if the bag and the seat match. 2020-09-30 10.32.31.jpg 2020-09-30 10.11.10.jpg

Ahhh we are both a little bit wrong and right. The world of normal! ;)
You are spot on correct, it is a R3 Touring seat from the mount, but it is the stock standard R3T Dual seat that has a 'T' in front of original number supplied by Dan so T2301980 is correct and it is not the Longhaul version which has the hole for the rider's backrest. See Fowlers Parts.
My bad, I had tried searching Triumph parts listings with the usual 'A' before the number without success and I know seats can have up to 4 part numbers on them with some the same, as they may share a seat base only.

Boonstrap in Europe have one for sale too.

Then when Triumph ran out of supply of T2301980 they just used the next available and least sold accessory R3T seat to replace it the Dual GEL Replaced by: A9700500 . They did the same with the Longhaul Dual with the seat hole for rider's backrest. When they sold out and replaced it with the R3T Rider Solo and Comfort pillion in Longhaul vinyl and sold together as a set. Some Triumph parts listings do not show the old and superceded part numbers and some do, but they can also be hidden. That is why sorting out exactly which seat you have or want to buy used can be tricky as the sellers are just as confused as the rest of us. ;)

I am unable to edit my original post, for some reason. I'd like to update the title with what we now know, if anybody knows how to do that.

If you turn your phone sideways, you'll see adfitional appear. I was a member for years before someone told me that, lol. Not sure if that helps
