I just did the 600 mile oil change and thought I'd share a few thoughts for those of you who've never done an oil change on these bikes.

The long kickstand on the 2.5 makes a tip over waaay too easy, especially when pulling on a wrench from under the bike. Do something/anything about it. Something like this will give you peace of mind...

There's enough room to do everything without raising the bike. I've seen some describe jacking it and then lowering it onto blocks- not necessary.

For the catch pan I use a gallon oil container with one of the sides cut off- plenty of clearance.

Maybe it's just me, but the diagram of the drain bolts in the manual makes me dizzy. With the lean of the bike you'll probably want to work from the right side. Here's the original ...

Here it is rotated which, for me anyway, reads easier. If you're laying down on the right side of the bike and look up- this is what you'll see, with the front of the bike to your right.

and a badly stitched together photo of the same....

Btw, all the drain bolts are 8mm hex- the smaller sized hex bolts are not what you want to remove.

Use a cheaper (exact same as OEM)

WIX Filter - 51358

I use Motul 7100 15-50, but there are other choices- and you can be sure we'll hear about them shortly....:)

Thank you. Any picture of oil filter location and how to access it?
I didn't get a photo, but it's easy to get to. Look under the front and you'll see the very end of the oil filter. It's pictured in my shot on the right side of the photo, but that's with the radiator shroud moved away. To do that look for two bolts on either side of the filter when looking up at it. Remove those and that shroud pivots (from the top) up out of the way enough to access the filter. Triumph calls for a special tool to remove the filter, but a filter wrench/strap is all you need. The oil change is an easy job, just takes a bit of time.
