12 minute reset after RAMAIR and DOBECK probs? Tweaking map tables to RAMAIR b4 Dobe install.

Did the RAM and AFR+ at the same time and the AFR+ was reading too rich and, according to Dobeck-after watching the RAMAIR install vid that installing the mods at the same time was thowing the fuel map tables off too far for the AFR+ to read.

Dobeck suggested after watching the RAMAIR vid....

1. Pull their Wide band O2 and reinstall the OEM Narrow connected to the Triumph ECU(they use a null plug on the Triump o2 when you do the AFR install)

2. Disconnect the AFR+ gauge lead...this throws the ECU back in control of the EFIs

3. Start bike and after fan kicks in let it idle 12 min to reset the fuel map idle tables to the RAMAIR...This was stated in the RAMAIR 35 min vid.

4. Let bike cool..Install Dobe Bosch O2 back put null plug in ecu o2 lead and plug control gauge up.

QUESTION IS...With the Ramair running off the ECU and the stock O2 will it reset any fuel map tables in the ECU to allow for the RAMAIR prior to the AFR+ to be reinstalled?

IF NOT...Any one help me out...Dobeck needs the forums input on this one guys!

It's worth a try, or you could just reset the adaptives with TuneECU if you have it and then do a 12 minute tune. When you do the 12 minute tune, start with a cold engine.

Talk to Idaho Red. Nothing changes the L or F fuel tables unless you change the values yourself or load a different tune. assume the Dobek isn't yet doing anything to the fuel?

When you plug in the doodad into the stock O2 connection, it tells the ecu not to go into closed loop, i.e. not to look for a signal from the stock o2 sensor. Did it idle when you started it up after installing the Ram? Depending on which tune is loaded, it will run lean with the Ram, not rich. Running the 12 minute tune just adapts the ecu to ambient conditions at idle. It's not going to affect much with the Ram but it wouldn't hurt to do it. I see no reason to reconnect the stock o2 sensor before doing the 12 minute tune.
 


Both were installed at the same time(RAM and DOBE)...what I am not sure if the piggybacks are reversed on cylinders 2 and 3 and the injectors from the OEM harness are plugged in 1-2-3 into a 1-3-2 piggyback clip on each EFI....DOBE said Cyl one mattered that we be right there with piggy 1 but 2 and 3 did not matter.

That makes no sense....

The bike rides fine....Seems to have less end thump but revs 2x as fast with the RAMAIR.

I do not know what it going on with this AFR but you would think that the EFI piggyback clips would have to be on the correct injectors in the correct firing sequence.

Personally I think some thing is wrong with the dobe( 2 and 3 are reversed etc( and it is defaulting to the ECU with no 02. Let us hope I do not smoke the valves in a high reving lean envon....Pre mods it was slow to rev...Now it hits 5K in a snap......I used to lug about now that induction snarl is INTENSE!

My ECU cable comes in next week from Tone Loc at Loneloc in London

The pulses from the ecu have to be routed to the correct cylinders. You should be able to confirm that the Dobek harness is on correctly. Can you reconnect the stock cables? You should be able to configure the Dobek so that it's not applying a trim and not in auto tune mode. Then it would be passing the pulses from the ecu to the injectors without modifying them, assuming the harness is on right.
 
That first procedure is pure bollocks. The stock ECU adjusts the fuel ratio to 14.5:1 target via narrow band at idle. With RAMAIR installed, the required fuel for 14.5:1 is within 2% of the fueling required with stock intake tract.

What I would suggest is:

1: Uninstall the O2 null plug.
2: Open TuneECU, uncheck the o2 sensor box.
3: download that tune.
4: Start bike, plug in TuneECU, click Reset adaptives, and reset iacv.
5: 12 minute tune.

If it isn't able to control the fuel at that point, there is something wrong with the control strategy, either the ECU is borked (highly unlikely), the O2 sensor is borked (possible), dobeck is borked (possible), wiring is wrong somehow (most liekly).
 
If you download a tune with the O2 sensor disabled, you can reset the adaptations to the factory defaults or not and it will idle. It will adapt to ambient pressure by itself without a 12 minute tune. I don't understand how the AFR+ works . Does it start trimming the moment you turn the bike on? Does it have an off switch, like a zero map in a PC?
 
Exactly my point dougl. If the o2 is disabled instead of using the stupid simulator you KNOW the ECU isnt getting data back so relies only on the barometric sensor + fuel tables. With that o2 simulator plugged you have no idea what data is being fed back along the o2 data line to the ECU.

With the ability to simply disable the o2 sensor, the use of a o2 simulator is very very questionable.
 

I totally agree. I have AFR+, Ramair, D&D's and have disabled O2 via TuneECU. The bik runs smoother and shows less acrobatics from the needle on the AFR guage.
