    gauge clusters aftermarket

It is not a case of just plugging in - you have to rewire the 20-way connector to suit your new gauge cluster. If you are reasonably good with a crimping tool and circuit diagram, then it's not a biggie. There are quite a few threads on the subject to talk you through the process

    gauge clusters aftermarket

I love my Koso RXF - loads of functions and it really brings my old bike into this century

My Rocket glide, custom, work in progress.

Some nice mods there - particularly like the rear fender. Like others have said, I am not a fan of the 'bars and think they look out of character with the bagger style fairing. Having said that, as you say, we customise our rides for ourselves and our own reasons. ;)

    One for the electrical gurus

Problem solved! All the talk about resistors had got me going round in circles with no solution in sight - but the easy fix is to put a 10A diode in the main beam feed to each headlight. It is a 5 minute fix - just unplug the appropriate wire (red in my case) and insert the diode. It is more...

    Self-cancelling indicators

You don't have to remove the switch toggle - just split the switch, remove the securing screws and it all pulls out from the inside, leaving the toggle in place. A lot easier than you think ;)

    Self-cancelling indicators

Yep, I had a look at the Kisan product but thought it was very expensive for what it is - basically a timer. The STS is about half the price (for me in the UK) and is a bit more sophisticated, combining the timer function with a sensitive 'black box' which detects any form of direction change -...

    Self-cancelling indicators

As I had the switch apart I thought I would experiment with some foam that I had lying around - about 6mm thick So I popped in a couple of pieces in each side of the springs to keep the pressure as even as possible. After putting everything back together the result is pretty good. The...

    Self-cancelling indicators

Or if you are feeling a bit more adventurous you can separate the two halves of the module to access things more easily - just be aware of the internal parts which could ping out if you are not careful. You can now easily insert the foam pads either side of the spring and if all else fails, snip...

    Self-cancelling indicators

It looks fairly straightforward to me - but one option is a bit irreversible  After removing the handlebar switch assembly and the securing screws for the switch module and snipping the cable tie The switch module will pop out (watch out for the return spring for the horn switch). Turn...

    Self-cancelling indicators

I am seeing some very good reviews - it even detects a lane change. Pity about the switch challenge but I do like a challenge so I might order one and find out if there is a way to mod the switch without destroying it - after all, if it can be assembled it can be disassembled....... right? :p

    Slimmed down R3

Do you have any info you can share on the radiator? It looks much better than standard - really modernises the older Rocket.

    Self-cancelling indicators

That unit seems quite expensive considering that it basically just a timer, £130 including shipping to UK  I have found this one which looks a bit more sophisticated and half the price Amazon.com: Smart Turn System - STS, Automatic Turn Signal Cancelling Module, self Cancelling System ...

    Water and oil temp sensors?

I decided to modify the original cap - it just seemed to make more sense. So I popped off the stainless steel cover and drilled a hole to take a rubber grommet Then welded a stainless washer to some 10mm tube and measured the dipstick marks to duplicate them on my new dipstick (see my very...

    Water and oil temp sensors?

Thanks for all the ideas - much appreciated. As I have deleted all of the analogue gauges I think I will persevere and modify a cap to take the sensor (supplied with the gauge) This one, made of the finest Chinesium should do the trick CNC Motorcycle Gas Tank Oil Cap Fit Harley Sportster Road...

    Water and oil temp sensors?

That makes perfect sense and is quite obvious when you think about it - the head and the oil will be totally different temps. So is there a blanking plug somewhere in the tank? I have had a good look around but can't see anything (with these glasses anyway ;) ) My new water temp sensor works...

    Water and oil temp sensors?

Duh ! I really must get these glasses updated  ;)

    Water and oil temp sensors?

In the end I decided to put a sensor in the small hose on the back of the radiator - seems to work fine. Now I just need to find a place to stick an oil temperature sensor. I cant put it in one of the sump drain plugs as it will be too exposed and get knocked off. Any ideas guys?

    Chrome Delete on the Roadster

I have used Simoniz Tough Satin Black to paint some bits and pieces on my Bobbers. No undercoat needed and it is .... erm .... tough  Watch out when going all black - it can look a bit overdone in my opinion, and leaving some colour / chrome can give some needed contrast.
