    longer ride soreness

So, when I go for 4-8 hour rides on the rocket, I usually come home really stiff and sore, especially around the back, shoulders and neck. I just figured this would happen on any motorcycle. Well, I rented a bmw r1200 gs adventure, while on vacation in colorado last week, and rode for about 8...

    Added some LED's

added some new LED strip lights in strategic places to increase visibility. The thought of being rear ended while at a stoplight or blind sided scares the crap out of me! What do you all think? Is it too much?

Test Rode a Ducati Multistrada Enduro and KTM 1290 SA

I'm looking for a second bike, could never sell my r3r!!! I really like the new adventure bikes, so went down and test rode the ducati and ktm, back to back. I must say they are both really nice, well thought out bikes. Both of their suspensions are way way better than the rocket. No spine...

Wow, New avon cobras are incredible!

just did my first ride with the avons and they totally rock! The handling was sooooo much better than the stock tires. I seriously can't believe the improvement in handling, i wish i would have done this sooner! Couldn't be happier with my bike now, feels like a sportbike around corners, albiet...

loss of rear wheel traction when downshifting

anyone else do this? I seem to do it a lot, so much so that My rear tire is worn to the threads after 3500 miles. Its the stock metz tire. Its a bad habit I've picked up when doing fast downshifts, its kind of fun though.

Blown away by a sportbike in the twisties...

So, I know this is a cruiser, but it's also much, much more, so I guess my expectations are very high for its handling. Well today, while on my usual ride through the canyons, a sportbike appeared in my rear view mirror, seemingly out of nowhere. So, I signaled for him to go by me, but then...

    Vibration issue above 3000rpm

I just did a 3 day trip covering about 700 miles. About half of those were freeway miles in wide open areas where I like to cruise at around 80-85mph. This puts me around 3200 rpm, and the vibration in the handle bars was driving me crazy! My bike only has 3000 miles on it and is properly...

Contemtplating trading the rocket for a ktm 1290 adventure

i know, i know, this is a rocket forum, but I must say I am tempted in trading my roadster for the ktm. I find myself wanting to explore the mountain fire roads when i'm riding the twisties, and doing some camping. The problem is I love the rocket so much, i know i would miss the heck out of it...

    longer range cruising needs...

Okay, did a 300 mile cruise yesterday, covering everything from canyons to windy mountain passes, to extended highway runs. This isn't a long trip for some people, but for me, it was pretty good day of motorcycling. So I came to the conclusion that to be a long range cruiser, the rocket would...

Easy brackets with harbor freight panniers (photos)

So I wanted aluminum panniers for my bike, but they are way too expensive, so I saw these in harbor freight for $39 bucks a piece. Mounted with easy brackets, and a little sheet aluminum reinforcement on the inside. What do you guys think?

    Adventure bikes

Man, I always thought adventure bikes were lame. If you want a street bike, just get a street bike. If you want a dirt bike just get one, they're way better at it. But, I started watching youtube videos about guys going on rides to alaska and other cool and rugged destinations, and it seems like...

    One year gone by...

So I've had my RIIIR for just over a year now, and was out riding her yesterday. I must say that the love this bike!! As I get to know the nuances of the machine more and more and become a better rider, it just keeps getting better. I think riding any motorcycle is fun, but this is a truly...

    Layed down my rocket!

So, I was practicing for my california motorcycle drive test, doing circle after circle, trying to stay in the lines and after about half hour my arms started to tire out. All of a sudden, I lose balance and the bike goes over! Are you kidding me! I just dropped my less than a year old rocket on...

Awesome ride above Ojai w/ new risers

Man, it was a beautiful day above Ojai yesterday. The wifey let me go for a ride and it was spectacular! This is such an awesome machine, its even better now that I got the rivco risers installed, I can sit farther back in the seat and not have to lean forward, unless I'm going for a land speed...

    Another Rivco riser thread

So having read all the threads on Rivco risers I bought a pair and was installing them today. After getting the bars off and the old risers I realize that the 2 new bolts are about 1/2" too long. I go to autozone and get some that fit. I get the bars on and man the throttle cables are tight. I...
