I have owned my 2006 Rocket III since new. Stock dyno'd 119HP/136TQ. That wasn't enough. I went cheap to start. Started with a canned tune that opened the secondaries and raised the speed limiter. There are some good canned tunes you can load for free with Tune ECU and the purchase of a Lonlec cable. Then I got a Dobeck Performance AFR Plus for "Free" as I was the test mule to develop it for the Rockets. That added a noticeable boost that made made me say "Holy Crap". Even so, I wanted more a few years later. We all know this engine has more. Triumph should have put it out with 200 plus horse power. But no they made it so tame from the start. Really they still do.
So each time I wanted a little more power, I somehow still spent quite a few dollars on each level still trying to be cheap. My last "cheap" attempt netted 145HP/148TQ. This took cat bypass $270, TORs mufflers $500, RamAir Filter $149 and a dyno tune $350. That kept me happy for just a few years. Still being tempted to need more. Drag racing my buddy started in 2016 and I could not beat his 1200 Thruxton R most of the time. That just isn't right. So the wheels started turning in my mind. What do I need to get to 200 HP ?
MONEY ... boat loads of Money. And time to get what I wanted to do this. Neville Lush Racing has the internals parts needed for making 200+HP and his engines are very streetable and durable. Now I need the exhaust that makes this work. The only one I liked is made by Paul Bryant at Viking Exhaust. The problem was Neville told me his tubing was too small at that time to make 200 HP. We needed Paul to expand his tubing to 1 3/4 inch from his at that time 1 1/2 inch tubes. After 2 years of asking for the 1 3/4 inch pipe, Paul finally agreed to develop it. It took some time, but the results are fantastic.
So this last up-rate cost about $7000. That investment has netted at the rear wheel 199HP/169TQ. Let the fun begin.
