We made it, a great trip even though there were only a few of us, its all about the journey and the company
L to R, Mrs Ozrider, @ozrider , @Mittzy and @Pete and Mrs Pete taking the Picture :)

Ripping yarn :
Its fair to say the 100ks of bitumen from Stanthorpe to Texas is an adventure ground for rockets (and probably most bikes).
Long straights, sweeping curves, twisties and panoramic views of grazing lands, the down side is that it can also be death by cage, death by marsupial, death by misadventure.
With that back drop I might have felt the "need for speed" was called for and given the mid afternoon timing the wildlife that plagues this road was about to come out to play.
There I was concentrating on reaching our destination in time for a shower and the first beer when I topped a rise and started a long down hill straight when I noticed a white 4B traveling in the opposite direction with his Christmas lights on.:confused::oops::oops:
I checked my mirrors and speculated he might be looking at Mittzy (given he was a long way back but possible) so I proceeded on my way  without slowing down because, as I said the wildlife were waiting to break cover.
I'm told by ozrider later that the 4B completed a U turn and gave chase at the sort of speed only a busted arse diesel pajero can do.
By this time I had entered the outskirts of the town and was focused on getting to sanctuary (behind the pub) without raising any suspicion (doing the speed limit), just as Mittzy and I were literally 200m from the pub we were caught by the pajero.
At that point, I was introduced to senior sergeant Greg of the Texas police who nonchalantly offered me a yellow plastic gizmo to blow in and started asking quetions about my speed back on the road. I told him I thought I was close to the speed limit , after that he got very condescending making claims about temporary Australians, death by cages, death by marsupials and death by misadventure (all the down side stuff). At this point Mrs Pete was listening intently and waiting for a break in the tirade to inject the fact that she was a nurse hoping this would placate SS Greg. He noticed her and this only seamed to make him expand his critique by including death to pillion rider in the down side stuff.:notworthy:
He seemed to run out of steam when I responded to his questioning about lodging by telling him we were staying in the pub not more than 200m away.
From that point he checked my licence and registration and told me to slow down :):)
Through all this Mittzy was lurking in the background trying to remain inconspicuous, ozrider with Mrs ozrider realised they were low on fuel and needed to find a fuel stop immediately :laugh:
We caught up with SS Greg at the pub later that night when he was doing his rounds of the town and decided he was ok, just doing his job, even though I felt the temporary aussie title was a bit rich given that I was older than SS Greg !!
We passed a police bike on the road next morning (which is unusual for that part of the country) so I'm thinking SS Greg had let some of his mates in on our little adventure :cautious::cautious:
