While hunting the cause of sporadic safety start clicks, stuck a tester somewhere it didn't like. The bike is dead. The headlight is not coming on but ll the gauges are working. Fuses are all good. How can I trace down the headlight power?

On my phone so am guessing it is between 04 and 09
Best place to start is the starter relay
assuming u do not have the eastern beave
Better yet if your meter still works check the fuses you brobably blew the one comming from ignition.

'12... swapped out the starter relay-nada. No beaver, thought I was passed that. Fuse would be way to easy. Took out the spiffy "blind the guy in front" headlight for continuity. Running out of simple crap. (BTY I waved when I went by in June)

Last 2 page's should tell you something, poke around with the probe some more with the key on, hit the start button, you getting any power to the starter motor main positive, you getting any power at the starter relay, find out where you do have power and go from there, oh I guess the manual can't be shared look at idk signature he has a manual in there, if you don't have one already, good luck

Have u found anything ?
Tell us what works? Horn rear light brake lite
Does it click?
Does the gauges sweep?

If you have a stock 05 you may have an ignition barrel issue. The headlights are powered through the ignition barrel (why everyone in the early years bought the EB Bypass kit). The lights aren't coming on likely due to the wires coming loose in the ignition switch barrel. The starter relay disrupts the power to the headlights when you mash the starter button on the bike. Check out the schematic in IDK's manual post and you can trace the wires out. Pull your ignition switch and see what wires (if any) are loose.

That tiny bundle of wires running through the downtube had one even tinier wire(green) broken. guessing from the stress of turning the forks. Just happened to pick the right spot to open the bundle. So far so good. Found out I'm not exempt from the "Beaver bypass" but it was suggested to get a bypass relay (-$) for the original starting issue. Thanks to all
