New Zard Pipe for the 2500cc

Installed yesterday, so happy with it, sounds amazing with the baffles out. Fit and finish are exceptional (though for the price it should be heh). Here’s a sound video
I would love to hear a little more of this setup. Throw us a bone and maybe do a drive by sound clip. Please!

Why Akra?!!??! Why? There must be a “minimum number of bikes on the road” factor before they start design on an exhaust, I reckon. What’s another all new bike that they are offering an exhaust for? I imagine still not sufficient numbers on the road to justify R&D. I wish begging worked. I just love their exhaust on the BMW. Full headers and can Ti system installed was less than what Zard wants!!! Crazy.

TL;DR: got it, love it. Pics attached.

So, finally got mine today. It’s Euro5 black coated, they said the Euro5 ones where delayed more than planned due to homologation services burnout this year… I guess the coating could add a bit as well. The dealer (in France, but they ship worlwide it seems) sent me the package same day that he received it from Zard, even before he got my money… First time I ordered to him, so I have to salute this..

Awesome finish, definitely lighter than factory, perfect black coating - I had pipes from Vance & Hines, Scorpion and Akra before, I must admit this is the most expensive ever, but finish is a whole other level, and they definitely try to do something original that to my opinion fits the bike quite well (even if original is almost perfect to this regard).

Setup is not hard, but it is quite a long way - lots of different screws, bolts, nuts and washers; and instructions are YouTube only, which make them very clear but not convenient to navigate through while handling tools with crappy hands… Almost everything is provided though (even a funny hook to setup a spring between down pipes), you just have to take 2 bolts from the original setup.

The catalytic converter (in Euro5 variant only) is very well integrated (I mean, compared to the giant and heavy box they put at factory… these are 2 worlds). I really wanted Euro5 this time, not only because regulators in Europe have bad ideas about mandatory regular bikes inspection for the near future, but also because you know, noise emissions compliant (read: cop proof), and gas emissions savvy.

Enough said, pics (****ty but timely):

Then as regards sound; and once again I have a Euro5 variant with cat and baffles - it’s perfect. I could not have dreamt better; it’s significantly louder but not too loud (I have had too loud - I went numb after 100km, and getting older I’m pissed by too much loudness everywhere from radio music to streets now :p). It’s a more mid-low/bassy ranged sound than original, warmer, more pleasant to my ears and that I believe better fit the bike. Still have to test on road and with revs (too late here to piss the neighbors).

I have a before/after idle sound recording from my mobile, but this is a bad quality take by design, with probably less than a third of sound range, and free saturation: this would not do justice, to the pipe, Triumph, our ears or the phone. Wait not the phone - it’s their fault.

Hope this short overview will be useful to your minds and choices fellow riders.

Wow. Man that’s beautiful. Black is the ticket. I would buy right away at $1,000 maybe $1200. Boy is that a work of art. I want more bass in this beast. I would love to hear her in person. Congrats.

Very nice indeed! I do not think Zard has built a pipe that does not display stunningly, and this one would surely rank at the top of that list. It does not make sense, though, that they should have crammed the cat into the same pipe diameter. They had space for an enlarged diameter section for the cat below the swingarm. And one would have expected elastomer covers on the exhaust springs for that price, because those bare ones WILL remove the coating locally.

Rocket-III's of yore were not exactly big sellers. And the new ones, selling well at present, might not persist at that. So, we will have to sit it out for at least another year or so, methinks.

I had a similar response from BST on carbon fibre rims. However, their reply had also hinted that COVID-19 had been real tough on their bottom line, and that new tooling and models had taken a backseat.

Arrow badging I do believe. Correct me if I am wrong, please, but elsewhere people have said the pipe is the same, save for the arrow badge and carbon appliqué.
I’ve heard the same thing. Tell me why apply an Arrow badge to a Triumph muffler? Is that not outright fraud? I as told buy the factory rep that is has a different muffler.

Could the brakes be made by Triumph and just be badged Brembo?

I believe someone with a TFC was the one who said it’s the same exhaust. The arrow part could easily just be the carbon and it wouldn’t be fraud. Easy enough, too, to have Arrow change the baffling or internal packing and make it match the “custom” moniker in the sales materials and that could change sound signature. It looks identical from the outside mechanically. I wouldn’t know I never had the option to buy one (sold out)! Wanted one. Even if it’s the same mechanically it looks way sharper and does the bike a real service. Use your iPhone decibels app outdoors at idle from directly behind and have a friend with the R or GT do the same. If the same level or real close, that’s the hinting at the same pipe. Of course they may have opened it up a bit to satisfy the lawyers and match the marketing materials describing bespoke Arrow! I do hope it’s not just appearance. Someone else said it was however.
